About This Item

New York: Bloomsbury, 2011. Reprint ed.. Paperback small octavo, very good condition, minor edgewear. 356 pp. Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway (American science historians) tell the remarkable story of how a small conservative group of American scientists leads the world in vehement denial of a host of environmental dangers. They have deep connections in politics and industry, run effective campaigns to mislead the public, and deny well-established scientific knowledge over four decades. The same individuals surface repeatedly - they deny the science of global warming, that smoking causes lung cancer, that coal smoke causes acid rain, and that CFCs caused the ozone hole. 'Doubt is our product’, wrote one tobacco executive. These 'experts' supplied it.
