About This Item

New York, New York, U.S.A.: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1927. First Thus . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Wyeth, N. C.. One of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day, this one by N. C. Wyeth. These have recently been reissued, making these original editions more highly collectible, particularly when they contain color plates, like this one. Praised as one of author Jules Verne's best books since its original 1876 publication, this is the First Edition in this format from 1927 (First, Thus), NOT the modern reprint! With Wyeth's artwork on endpapers, title page, & 9 internal full-page, full-color plates, all of which are present & secure, with rich colors & white margins. Hardcover book has black cloth-covered boards, gilt lettering to spine, & a brilliantly colored front paper pastedown, which shows very minor edgewear & a few mild scrapes. There is a mild dampstain to the rear of book along top outer edges, which impacts 6 of the plates, barely noticeable until you get to the ones in the very rear. Else, book is very clean, pages creamy white & unmarked, text block strong & straight, but front hinge cracking. No DJ. POur photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping if ordered by 2 pm weekdays (PST); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next day.
