About This Item
New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1974. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. Inscribed by John Nichols to fellow New Mexico writer Ernie Bulow on the front flyleaf. A quixotic effort by poor New Mexico farmers to cultivate land for which they lack legal title but own in spirit touches off a symbolic war with developers and Anglo water barons over stolen territory and neglected rights. This novel served as the basis for the 1988 film directed by Robert Redford. Illustrated by Rini Templeton. Octavo. Original black cloth binding, with gilt titles. Light bumping to the corners and tips. The dust jacket ever so slightly sun faded along the spine; else very good or better.
