[4], v-viii, [10], 1-246 pp. Grey cloth with silver lettering and decorations on the front board and spine, silver lettering blocked in navy on the spine; orange topstain. Price of $5.00 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with numerous full-page maps and photographs (black and white). Photographs from the Meserve Collection. With a preface by Fletcher Pratt. Howes B-73. Originally published in London in 1926, this is the first American edition. A small bookstore sticker from the Abraham Lincoln Bookshop on the rear pastedown; jacket shows minor rubbing.
