About This Item

15831ed Patrizi La Militia Romana Polybius LIVY Dionysius ROME Military Ferrara

Franciscus Patricius was a 16th-century Venetian philosopher who wrote a number of philosophical works in both Latin and Italian; and while the majority of his works dealt with his views on Plato and Aristotelian philosophy, his most practical treatise was a translation of the military classics of Polybius, Livy, and Dionysius Halicarnassus. 'La Militia Romana' was written as a scheme for military strategy in the city of Ferrara. Patrizi provides a thorough and detailed analysis for Roman military functions, organization, and ancient battle strategies.
