About This Item

London: Century Publishing, 1981. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The interior of the book is clean and tight, with no marks or wear. The paper has darkened slightly, but this is the only flaw. The black covers are also clean, with minor wear at tips and corners. The gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is price-clipped, again showing light wear, with two short (under half inch) closed tears -- one on the front panel, and one on the rear. The attached scan should give a better idea of condition. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Author's Note: This book is linked to two of L'Amour's series: "Milo Talon's mother, Em, was a Sackett, and, in fact, an earlier adventure featuring Milo and Em, A Man From the Broken Hills, is grouped with the Sackett novels as published in America. But beginning with this novel and continuing on ... I hope the Talons will begin to stand on their own. You'll find more background on the Talon family in Rivers West also." Summary: "To Milo Talon there is nothing finer than drifting the far, lonesome country. But times are lean, and Talon hires out for a job that suddenly has him hig-tied to trouble. He's hunting for the long-hidden secret to fortune in gold. Along with a beautiful woman driven by a desperate fear, Talon is quickly caught in the gold-crazed treacher of liars, thieves and murderers ...
