'Mind in Disease':vi+571+38 (pub.'s catalogue); 1889-dated signature top both half-titles, the main problem with both volumes (as semms to be common) was severely cracked end-gutters, these have now been closed and repaired reasoanably acceptably with black cloth tape (against black endpapers) though verso front endpaper Vol.2 remains slightly open at each end, and textblock remains just a shade shaken, internally both volumes are otherwise clean, tight and unmarked; Voil.1 covers generally clean bar a few small patches of pigment loss to back, spinedull with rubbed/nicked ends/ Vol.2. covers clean and unmarked back and front but a little faded with hints of wrinkling and ends rubbedas Vol.1, top back hinge has 5.5 cm cloth split which is however now quite secure, and spine has2 small holes towards bottom. My Good-VG rating is in a sense an average of Vol.1 VG-, Vol.2 Good+.. A quite accxeptable copy of this massive, and massively learned, if often anthropomorphic, work. Will clearly incur some additional postage, especially for overseas sales. A U.S. edition by Appleton was issued the same year as this.
