Minerals of New Mexico by Stuart A. Northrop - 1959

Bright blue dustjacket with a gem and beige text on the front and spine is price clipped and has minor wear, small tear on the front, small chips and sun fading on the back and age tanning on the interior. The sky-blue cloth spine and hardbound boards with black text are in very good condition with only slight rubbing at the spine and along the boards – all corners are sharp with no bumping. The spine is straight and the hinges are firmly attached with no cracking to endpapers. Text block is solid and all pages are firmly attached. The interior pages are clean with no tears, chips, creases or previous owner marks. Fold out map in pocket on inside rear board. Revised Edition Stuart A. Northrop (1904 1994) was an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of New Mexico. After receiving his Doctoral degree from Yale University, he arrived at the University of New Mexico in 1928 where he spent his career until he retired in 1969. His scholarly interests ranged from paleontology, mineralogy, and New Mexico's earthquake history. His enduring achievement was this book which was first published as a UNM bulletin (1942) and then published as a book (1944). It was then reissued in a considerable revised and expanded second edition in 1959 (and was again updated in the 1990's and 2000's). Professor Northrop had over 100 published works over seven decades, an unusually long period of scientific productivity.
