The title page has a small tear to the margin. The text is clean and unmarked. A previous owner's bookplate on the inside front cover: P.G. Wood U.S. Army. Palmer Gaylord Wood (1843-1915) served in the Civil War as Second (and later First) Lieutenant of the 7th California Volunteer Infantry starting October 28, 1864.
