New York: The Viking Press, 1943. First US Edition/Second Printing. Hardcover. Fair/Very Good. One of the author's classic entertainments that was made into an unforgettable film with Ray Milland. An ex-library copy rebound in blue cloth with white type and rounded corners. Stated 'Second Printing Before Publication'. Stamp and two pen marks to top page ends and two withdrawn stamps to front pastedown and page following which is not ffep which has been removed leaving some paper scarring. Reviews affixed opposite title page which along with TOC have stamps and notatations. Due slip and tape shadows to rfep and writing in pencil to gutter of pages prior. Some marks/spots and stamps to pages and a few creased corners. Jacket is unclipped ($2.50) and in great shape as was protected all this time in heavy duty protector. Small tape shadows to tops and bottoms of flaps with some associated nicks and a few tiny chips to spine ends. Light scuffing to rear panel.

Synopsis

Graham Greene (1904–1991) worked as a journalist and critic, and was later employed by the foreign office. His many books include The Third Man , The Comedians and Travels with My Aunt . He is the subject of an acclaimed three-volume biography by Norman Sherry.
