Kisa Kawakami's work straddles architecture and sculpture; his often paper based models bridge the conceptual radicalism of Archigram and other 1960s architectural collectives with the private craft work of traditional Japanese paper arts. Square cloth folding case (12 x 12 in.) containing: nine plates, three on board, including the use of silkscreen, relief sculpture, embossed paper, and printed acrylic. And 28-page illustrated text in glazed paper portfolio. FIRST EDITION of this scarce work on the Japanese architect and artist, published by London's Architectural Association to coincide with the exhibition of works by Kisa Kawakami. The show was held at the AA Bedford Square and in Japan at the Contemporary Sculpture Centre, Tokyo and Osaka. The embossing and folding was done by The Malvern Press and the presentation box created by The London Fancy Box Co Ltd. Design and typography by Kisa Kawakami, Elichi Kono and Ness Cromptin.
