Translated and Edited with Notes and Illustrations by Jonathan Mayne. Has Index, Biographical Note, Appendix of translations of lines of verse kept in French in the text, Notes on the Illustrations, which are 68 b&w plates (art reproductions) as well as drawings. 12mo (4-1/2" x 7-3/8"), reddish brown cloth with gilt lettering and decoration on spine, spine sunned, scant wear, edges age-toned, foxing to end papers, one page folded up at bottom because of trim error (if unfolded, it protrudes). Name of former owner Prof. Warner Berthoff and date Jan. 1956 written on ffep, his notes there and on approximately 40 other pages - underscoring and/or marginalia.
