Light blue coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Jacques Forestier is a parasite and dilettante. He leaves his provincial family for Paris to study for his degree. The doomed affair forces Jacques to come to terms not so much with society but with himself. Translated by Dorothy Williams. The author's first work, first published in 1921.
