London: Methuen & Co., 1896. Book. Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Original light blue cloth, with blindstamped framing on both boards. Spine lightly sunned, a few marks on cloth, undated inscription on front free endpaper, owner's note on pages 95 & 97 (noting error in chronology), good. Publisher's remainder cloth (originally issued in the standard Methuen red cloth) without catalogue at end. Davidson was a contributor to The Yellow Book, author of the extravaganza Perfervid (1890), and drowned himself at the age of 52, fearing that he had cancer. This is a collection of 10 short stories: Miss Armstrong's Circumstances, A Would-Be Londoner, Some Poor Folk, An Ideal Shoeblack, Alison Hepburn's Exploit, The Member for Gotham, Talking Against Time, Banderole's Aesthetic Bill, Among the Anarchists, The Interregnum in Fairyland..
