About This Item

Roseville, California: Penmarin Books, 2004. First Printing . Trade Paperback. Very Good. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2. 205 Pages Indexed. Contents in Eleven Chapters: Mission Not Accomplished, 9/11, Oil Slick, Tropical Terrorism, Dry Drunk, Condition Red a Vulnerable Nation, Why the FBI Flunked Its Terror Test, The War on Freedom, Screwed Up, Mission Lost, and Bannergate. After 9/11 President Bush reassured Americans and the world that he would lead the fight against terror aggressively and unremittingly until Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida were crushed. Since then his actions have fallen short, and he has apparently lost of sight of the mission. Turner portralys the White HOuse as an administration of broken promises, insufficient planning, failed diplomacy, misplaced priorities and suspect motives, and hammers Bush for selling the invasion of Iraq as part of the War on Terror, when in fact Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and posed no threat. In addition, the bravado masked profiteering by Halliburton, the Carlyle Group, and other war contractors, gross counterintelligencefailures, a dangerous crackdown on civil liberties, and homeland security that doesn't meet the threats we face.
