Spine title in gilt with stamp; minor shelf wear to foot, small tear on crown. Corners and edges slightly rubbed. Library plate on front paste down. Illustrated with 42 B/W plates from photographs and in-text illustrations. Textblock remains tight and pages turn easily. very good Early discussion of the merits of asphalt paving, possible defects and improvements to construction methods. The author served as an inspector of asphalt and comments on the need for increased supervision of independent contractors. A fascinating historical perspective on this now common industrial material. 1908
