First edition, "Edition de Luxe" of the British Issue, one of 75 copies signed by Halford on the title/limitation page.


Two quarto volumes: Volume I: viii, 219 pp. Forty-three plates, many colored, some of tied flies. And illustrations in the text. Frontispiece portrait. Volume II: [4] pp. and nine plates with thirty-three actual mounted tied flies in mounts with heavy card backing. Half red calf over cloth boards, spines in compartments with five raised bands and tooled and lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers, top edges gilt, others untrimmed. Housed in two custom half red calf drop-down-back boxes lined in felt. Spines of boxes also with five raised bands and tooled and lettered in gilt to match the volumes.
