London: J. Johnson and Co., 1813. The Anglo-Irish novelist (1768-1849) was immensely popular and an importanty literary influence. Although tending toward the didactic, "Giselda"is an instance of Edgeworth's lighter side. First published in 1804, Here is an early printing that might have been a lovely copy, were it not disbound. One cover is loose but present; the other has gone missing. Originally a full calf binding, cross-hatched, with a gilt rule on the cover. The spine, which is still present, has ruling, decorations, and titling in gilt. The text is clean, very bright and clear; 200 pages. A few spots and faint flood-marking. Please note the condition issues. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of repairs or restoration.
