Paris: Hachette, 1976. Second Edition . Soft cover. Near Fine/No Jacket Issued. Same size and contents as the first edition. Original glossy pictorial stiff soft cover binding (color photo of Mont Blanc). Near Fine condition with minor rubbing very tips of corners, tight binding, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages. INSCRIBED & SIGNED by Gaston Rébuffat on short title page. Book measures 24cm tall x 215mm, and has 208 pages, 17 color & 183 b/w photos & ills.Text in french. This one of the few books by Rébuffat that has not been translated to english. Rébuffat's grand presentation of Mont Blanc & man's history with it. Thorough history of early explorers and climbs, more modern ascents branching out to the surrounding peaks, concluding with two chapters of Rébuffat's own experiences on the mountain. Excellent collection of rare old prints, engravings, sketches followed by fine photography.
