London: Richard Bently, 1859. First edition. Hardcover. vg. 8vo. 354pp. Brick-colored cloth, gold lettering on spine. Sparsely illustrated with b/w reproductions of ancient hyroglyphics and reliefs. Chapters include the 104 page text The Monuments of Assyria, Babylonia, and Persia, the next entitled Illustrations from the Obelisk of Nimroud, Medallions, ect. that extends to page 178, The Great Arrow-Headed Inscriptions of Behistun or Bisitun to page 210, and finally Ruins of Mourg-Aub, or Pasargadae in the Vicinity of the Kur-Aub, followed by A New Key for the Recovery of the Lost Ten Tribes. Head of spine pulled, shelfwear, slight bumping to edges. Well presesrved for its age. Very good condition.
