About This Item

1698 ENGLISH 1ed Walter Pope FABLES Political Homer Cowley RARE Astronomer

Walter Pope was a 17th-century English bibliographer and writer best-known for his account of the life of Bishop Seth Ward. However, in addition to his bibliographies, Pope wrote a number of metered fables of political and moral satire, each of which, as could be expected, is written about an animal of some sort. Notably, some of these poems are paraphrased by Abraham Cowley.
