Publisher's original brown cloth. 206 pages. A detailed history including chapters on early settlements, the Indian War, the Indian and Negro Missions and more. With the ownership inscription of Jacob Henry Smith, an important Presbyterian minister who served as a visiting chaplain to Confederate Troops in Wilmington and at Virginia. In March, 1865, his Greensboro church was used as a hospital to care for the wounded of the Battle of Bentonville. Condition: Fair: ex-library complete as issued with unmarked pages showing scattered foxing and a small loss to the upper right corner of the title page. Front board detached and most of spine perished, the front board and spine held together with a makeshift paper bookcover.
