About This Item

Crosby Lockwood & Son, Ltd., London, first edition, 1950. Cloth, 8vo,. vii, 186 pp, ills. Approximately 350 entries. From the preface: "The eighteenth century was remarkable for the advance that was made in farmìng practicc, and a definite period of that advance lies between the publication of Tull's work and the formation of the Board of Agriculture in 1793 : so the limits to which I have confined myself in this book are justified by external circuinstances.Parallel with the advance in practice was a large increase in the number of books on farming and kindred subjects that was published. ...I have tried to leave out purely botanical works.. my intention has been to catalogue only books on vegetable, fruit, and flower production, however unwarily I may have been seduced by the charms of some that are outside my limits. Bookplate on front pastedown endpaper with some offsetting to front free endpaper, upper fore-edge corners bumped, otherwise Good.
