About This Item
New York: The MacMillan Company, 1962. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Knowles' scarce second novel, believed by many to be almost as good as his first, "A Separate Peace." It is the story of the clash between France and Algeria, between an old, established and accomplished nation and a young, robust emerging country as seen through the eyes of an American; light foxing on top edge of text, previous owner's bookplate pasted on front end page, o/w boards and text are clean, tight, square; dustjacket shows some slight wear along edges and at corners with minor chipping at top of spine; some light foxing along exposed edges of dj flaps; small stain in margin of front flap and front flap's corners have been clipped but original price is intact. A collectable copy.
