Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1937. Hardcover. Fine. Thin 4to. Title and 22 illuminated leaves in gold and color, by Alberto Sangorski. Finely bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe in full maroon morocco. Spine in 5 uneven compartment wirh raise bands, gilt, and with gilt title and a depiction of Excalibur. Distinctive Cockerel marbled paper is inset into the upper and lower boards, which are tooled with blind rules. The upper board features a gilt 'A' bearing a crown. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpaper, with the stamp of Sangorski and Sutcliffe on the bottom margin of the inside upper board. A fine copy. In publisher's simple card slipcase showing wear the the folds and edges.
With the Rockwell Kent designed bookplate of John Whiting Friel and Helen Otillie Friel.
