New York: Delacorte, 1981. 1st ed. Hardcover. Very Good. Steptoe, John. 1st ptg., 4to picture book, pictorial boards, illustrated in color throughout by John Steptoe. The text, "Maman-Caiman", an Oulof folk tale from Senegal originally appeared in "Les Contes d'Amadou Koumba" by Birago Diop in 1961. The first edition in English and the first illustrated edition. Inscribed by the author "to Susan Collier" and also signed and dated by Steptoe, whose signature is uncommon. Signed by author and artist.
