New York: Harper & Row, 1990. First Edition. good, ex-lib., good. 665, illus., maps, endpaper maps, notes, rosters, appendices, bibliography, index, usual library markings. DJ in plastic sleeve, DJ flaps pasted inside boards. In the last year of the Civil War, the 57th fought in the Wilderness campaign, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and the siege of Petersburg. There is considerable evidence that the 57th suffered the highest percentage of killed and mortally wounded of any Union regiment in the war. Included is an appendix with brief profiles of each one of the over one thousand members of the regiment. There is also a large selection of period photos.
