About This Item
Boston: H M Caldwell, 1900 Pictorial paper over boards, moderate shelf wear, small loss to paper at base of spine, finger soil throughout and a few foxed spots. Bridgman was a clever and humorous fellow and here he brings us page after page of amusing rhymes and outlandish artwork in limited color featuring humanized animals. I like Jo An Reisler's characterization of Bridgman's artistic style; a cross between W W Denslow and L Leslie Brooke. While most of the book is good, clean fun, there are a few stereotypical depictions. Scarce.. First Edition. Pictorial Boards. Good to Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by L J Bridgman. Large 4to.
