Description:
First Edition. Near Fine / very good+. The mounds of the Ohio Valley and Mississippi Valley had been a source of mystery and myth in early America. The Smithsonian finally explored the mounds and opened up the science of archeology in America. The book has pencil notes on the back end page, it is very slightly toned on the end pages, otherwise excellent. The dust jacket is slightly toned and has a one inch tear at the back near the spine. Shelf wear and edge wear are very minimal. The book is from the estate of the former curator of ethnography at the Dallas Museum of Art, hence the notes. I wouldn't dream of erasing those notes. Rare.
