The book features numerous photographs, illustrations and portraits, as well as the following Appendices: The Title to Mount Vernon; Table of General Washington's Visits to Mount Vernon While President; Table of Those Born, Married, and Buried at Mount Vernon; Regents and Vice-Regents of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association of the Union, Since its Organization.
From the Introduction: "Much of what, in the past, has been said and written about Mount Vernon has been based on tradition, and while Mr. Wilstach's careful investigation has confirmed many of these traditions, some of what has been believed has been found not entirely accurate, and his patient research has brought to light much that was not known."
Condition:
Clean covers and spine; sharp corners; there is a 2" cloth tear at the bottom-left edge of the front cover, and a tiny cloth tear at the bottom-left edge of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The text pages are clean and white with no issues found. Overall the book is in very good condition.

Hinges are moderately cracked with exposed netting. Clean pages and illustrations with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpaper and pastedowns. Pencil markings to front pastedown. Front free endpaper is missing. Half title page and frontispiece detached but still present. Thumb-marking present. Binding is slightly loose. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Lettering is darkened. Minor sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Visible wear marks to boards.
