Stated first American edition. Published posthumously. Maroon sandcloth binding, blindstamped decoration, gold decoration and titles, top edge gilt. Fine engraved decorations at head and tail of chapters. Engraved frontispieces with protective tissue. Antique hand-numbered and dated bookplates from one of the oldest libraries in the USA. Chipping to top and bottom of spine on most volumes. Lightly foxed on a few pages. Good condition and scarce..
