About This Item
New York: Knopf, 2002. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. The third of Ford's six collections of short fiction. Ford has won the Pen/Malamud Award for his short stories as well as the Pulitzer Prize for his 1996 novel, "Independence Day." First printing, first U.S. edition (as stated). About 6 x 9 1/2 inches, 286 pages in pale green paper-covered boards with black backstrip and silver lettering on spine. Pictorial dustjacket's front panel shows groups of people moving through a large train/bus station with title and author at bottom of panel. Back panel has b&w photo of author above a list of seven of his titles. A tiny remainder dot on upper edge of text, o/w boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked, no underlining or highlighting, no significant damage or flaws. Dj shows a tiny tear in lower corner of back panel, o/w only very minor rubbing and wear. It's interesting to note that Ford once sent Alice Hoffman a copy of one of her books riddled with bullet holes after she angered him with a bad review of one of his novels.
Synopsis
