This edition includes the new author's note from the second English and American editions (1936) in which Eliot explains how he substituted a speech by the Chorus for a dialogue for the three Priests so that the text conformed with the Mercury Theatre production of the play. The book is tight and square with solid hinges. Corners lightly bumped and wear to spine head, else boards are clean and unmarred. Textblock is clean with no writing or bookplate and not BCE, ex-library or remaindered. Pages tanned. Dust jacket is unclipped ($1.25) with chipping to spine ends and top front panel, mild soiling and tanning and sunning to spine. Protected in a new Brodart mylar cover. 88 pages. A verse drama by T.S. Eliot, first performed in 1935, that portrays the assassination of Archbishop Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral during the reign of Henry II in 1170.
