About This Item
Paris: La Galerie de la Pleiade, 1952. First Edition. The overall work comprised three volumes; very good in dust jacket. Inscribed by Malraux on the half-tltle, “Pour Madame Malvina Hoffman avec le hommage de Andre Malraux.” With the recipient’s apparent pencil note on the front free endpaper, “Malvina, Paris, 1954.” The author, a novelist and prominent intellectual, was a genuine hero of the Resistance. A superb and important association: the recipient was a celebrated sculptress, many of whose works in France were destroyed by the Nazis.
