Ex library book rebound into library binding - buckram boards with leather spine - only a coupe of the usual stamps and markings, no pages removed. In overall very good used condition with only minor signs of age, handling and storage - boards slightly marked. Binding tight and appears little read. Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions; toning to page-ends but text and 48 charming illustrations bright and clear throughout. This book is both large and heavy (nearly 3kg packaged). Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. Some marks and staining to surfaces. Boards are slightly bowed.

This is a very large hardcover with red boards and cream spine, gold lettering and design on spine and front cover, 48 full-page color plates, 122pp, copyright 1888 print date 1921. CONDITION: Cover has slight wear on edges, very lightly soiled by use, 3" tear in front edge of spine, 1" tear in upper rear edge of spine; endpapers split at hinge but covers securely held by cloth mesh; text as new except plate 33 is creased and 4" tear, plate 34 has 1" tear and is loose from binding, plate 35 is loosening; no marks or writing. Scarlet publishers' cloth, with gilt titles and ornaments to cover and spine, in a pale turquoise blue publishers' dust-jacket. Ever so slightly bumped at spine tips and corners otherwise a a clean, bright, tight copy free of annotations or ownership inscriptions. Dust jacket is sunned and slightly soiled with some small closed tears (and two 3cm closed tears) on to the edges and minor loss to spine tips and corners.
