About This Item

London: Thornton Butterworth Ltd., 1940. First English Keystone Library Edition (Third Impression) (Cohen A91.3.d(Woods A37a). Hardcover (with Dust Jacket). Very Good. 8vo (392 pages, with photo frontispiece, maps, plans, one folding map, 16 tipped-in illustrations). This is a virtually mint copy of the wartime Third Impression of the Keystone Library edition in an unclipped dust jacket. The Keystone Library was publisher Thornton Butterworth’s budget imprint; it reproduced First Edition quality books at affordable prices. Bound in striking purple cloth, this copy is almost shockingly pristine, as if just published, in an equally pristine dust jacket. Yet it is, in fact, over eighty years old. A perfectly fabulous volume.
