During his lifetime, Edward Augustus Bowles's (1865-1954) garden at Myddelton House near London boasted a world-class collection of plants. This volume is the first of his trilogy (followed by My Garden in Summer and My Garden in Autumn and Winter, recounting the amazing goodies in his garden which is now, incidentally, being restored to its former grandeur. The author was a vice-president of the Royal Horticultural Society and the recipient of the Victoria Medal of Honour in Horticulture. Among his other awards were the Veitch Memorial Medal in gold for his work on Crocus and other garden plants, the Peter Barr Memorial Cup for his work on Narcissus, and a Grenfell Medal in gold for his botanical paintings.
