About This Item

Strebor Books, 2007. 1st. Very Good. A sequel to Shattered Souls that is a steamy, page-turning story of friendship, drama, and love tossed about in the storms of life.Readers are brought back into the lives of friends and lovers Indera, Britton, Damascus, and Chyna, all who continue to struggle with their desires and demons in life. As their lives intertwine with others, delicious and dirty secrets start to overflow, threatening the orderly world they've worked to create for themselves. Indera is learning that some matters of the heart are beyond her control, and that, rather than clinging to revenge, her path to freedom is found in forgiveness. Damascus believes he's found his soulmate in Indera, but wonders if her crazy antics will send him running. Britton is recovering from yet another failed relationship and learns the disturbing truth about the mother of his twin boys. And Chyna and Sarina, mother and daughter, come to odds as Chyna must separate from her daughter or risk losing herself to Sarina's increasingly unstable world of paranoia. Lastly is Celeste, a woman with a mysterious past who tries to manipulate events among the many friends, only to get entangled in her own trap. With volatile emotion brewing in everyone's hearts and explosive decisions being forced in every moment, From My Soul to Yours is an engrossing tale of the shelters people seek during troubled times—sure to delight, entertain, and enlighten Dywane D. Birch's fans. Includes publisher ephemera Softcover Box 7

About Oasis in the Diaspora

Oasis in the Diaspora is a literary, cultural and artistic emporium featuring a collection of books and ephemera each of which have led their own marvelous lives. Consisting of more than 12,000 rare Black books, small press poetry, multicultural children's books, and unique cultural artifacts, the collection primarily reflects the visions and voices of Black writers, historians, activists, artists and scholars across the African diaspora. Sweet smelling pages housed in pristine dust jackets, illustrated by the likes of artists Romare Bearden, Tom Feelings and Lois Malou Jones, are graced with the signatures and inscriptions of icons including Octavia Butler, Alice Walker, Amiri Baraka, James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, Roy DeCarava, and contemporary writers of equal brilliance.
The Oasis in the Diaspora archives also includes a collection of more than 5,000 letters documenting Black lives and cultures from the late 19th century to the present, including correspondences from Jennifer Lawson, Afeni Shakur, Barack Obama, Richard Pryor, June Jordan, Shirley Graham DuBois, Angela Davis and hundreds of others.
Amassed by writer, activist, cultural broker and former manager of the iconic DC bookstore Drum and Spear Daphne Muse, the collection is now being sold to the people in order to preserve the legacies of those who have been an integral part of forging the paths of Black lives and cultures across two and into three centuries. Take a beat to browse, and behold the collective knowledge of Black lives across the Diaspora.
