Jonathan Cape, 1975. Hardcover. Good/Good. 1975. Reprinted. 190 pages. This is an ex-Library book. Illustrated dust jacket over green cloth. Ex-library copy, with expected inserts and inscriptions. Black and white illustrations throughout. Pages are bright and clear with light foxing and tanning to text block edges. Binding is slightly loose but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has light tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped dust jacket with minor rubbing, chipping and tearing to edges. Some minor tanning, creasing and scuffing overall.
Synopsis
H.E. Bates was born in Northamptonshire in 1905. He published his first novel, The Two Sisters , when he was twenty. His most popular creation was the effervescent Larkin family about whom he wrote five novels including The Darling Buds of May . In 1973 he was awarded the CBE. He died in 1974.
