New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1916. First Edition, First Printing. First edition, first printing with published October 1916 and Harper code K-Q on the copyright page. This book measures approximately 9.5" x 7", with 150 numbered pages.
This book is in good plus condition. Front board illustration is wonderfully well preserved. Wear and cloth loss at the top of the spine. Small chip at the top edge of the rear board. Front hinge is cracked exposing mesh. Previous owner's handwriting in pencil on front pastedown and endpaper. Interior pages are bright and clean.
"The Mysterious Stranger" is a novel written by Mark Twain. Twain wrote multiple versions of the story, each involving a supernatural character called "Satan" or "No. 44". All of the versions remain unfinished with the exception of the last one titled No. 44 the Mysterious Stranger.
