New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1941. 1st edition. Hardcover. black-&-white frontispiece. pp. 217. 8vo. Bound in brown buckram with brown lettering & silhouette design. Top edge of book sprayed blue. The book is in very good condition, free of any markings by previous owner and only shows slightest shelf wear and a faint bit of foxing to foredge. The dust jacket shows wear at the folds with some light chipping along the edges , light overall soiling, overall about good. Frontispiece by Paul Laune. Orange coloured 'Gretta' endpapers. Front dust jacket flap shows 120-160, and lists 20 titles, ending with this title. Eighteen 'Ted Scott Flying Stories on rear flap. The dust jacket has a yellow spine, with number '20' at bottom. 'Ace Combat Stories' described on rear panel. Second printing of the first edition.

Synopsis

The Mystery Of The Flying Express is Volume 20 in the original Hardy Boys book series published by Grosset & Dunlap. The same title has been used for two completely unrelated story lines. The original story line involves the "Flying Express" railway. This railway passes close to a foreign spy camp hidden in a forest. The revised edition involves a "Flying Express" hydrofoil.
