About This Item
John Murray, London, 1950. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Photographic. At the beginning of the text there are two pages of maps showing the area spoken about within the text. Between pages 6 and seven there are 16 pages of black and white photographs. Mustard coloured cloth covered boards with dark brown coloured titles to the back strip. The author was one of the pioneer anthropologists in the Naga Hills of India between 1937 and 1946. During WWII was a guerrilla fighter against the Japanese in Burma from 1942-1945 with V-Force. This is her story of both endeavours. Softening of the back strip edges with a little bumping of the book corners. There is cocking of the spine and the covers show some handling marks and darkening. Noticeable darkening of the back strip. Browning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. The front edge of the pages 147 to 150 are a little ragged as they were not cut cleanly in the book's production and needed to be opened by hand. This has also occurred be two pages 115 through to 118 to a lesser degree. Offset tanning to the end pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [6], VII - X, 260 pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Photographic. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Anthropology; India; Military & Warfare. Inventory No: 0289708. .
