First published in Italian in 1980 under the title Il nome della rosa, it appeared in 1983 in an English translation by William Weaver.

One of the best mystery novels of all time! It is set in the middle ages and as well as being a mystery it also dives into a lot of political, religious, and philosophical issues of the time. It offers amazing insights into everything that is happening there and a thrilling chase for a serial killer on who's killing anyone who gets their hands on one book, in a secluded benedictine abbey
