(Sir John Franklin and his crews perished on their voyage of discovery to the Arctic in the 1840…Franklin died in June of 1847 on King William Is., Canada) Boston, Ticknor & Fields, 1860, 1st US edition, brown stippled cloth with embossed ship on front and rear covers, very good, very mild occasional age-toning, all maps and plates are present and in decent condition. only 1 fold-out has mild damage (it is the facsimile of Franklin's account of the expedition that he wrote not long before he died, and it was conserved in the stone grave cairn and was found and retrieved by M'Clintock. There is a 4"" tear in the part that is attached to the body of the book, but still in nice condition and can easily be mended), mild rubs/bumps to cover extremities (points are very mildly worn through, mild offset foxing at a few places from tissue guards), 4-3/4""x7-7/8"", 375pp including appendices. Roster of M'Clintock's ""Yacht"" crew included. Light previous owner name (A. W. French? Cleveland O.) on blank page in front. Very faint and may be eraseable pencil. Overall a very nice sound copy of this classic
