Official account of the ill-fated expedition, in the course of which Hall died - poisoned by arsenic, as determined much later - though the ship made a 'farthest North' record. Later printing, with final revisions to a few chapters by J. E. Nourse, tipped-in facsimile of Hall's last dispatch. Stout hardcover, full orange cloth, gilt titling & decoration. General wear, spine rubbed & tanned; endsheets professionally replaced; some foxing, mostly around the plates. Text clean; [2], 696 pages; index, appendix; two steel engravings, 38 wood engravings, two color 'photolithographs', six maps - as called for.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8½" By 10½".
