Small quarto, publisher's red cloth, good copy, binding shows darkening, freckling to joints, small stains, light discoloration and surface wear to rear board, contents very good, front inner hinge neatly strengthened, light foxing, small dampstain tidemark intruding on upper edge of first third of the book, never that obtrusive, foxing to outermost pages, handsome linen-backed map in pocket at rear is in very good condition with light foxing. 644 pp, illustrated with maps, illustrations and plates, some of which are heliotypes.
