New-York: Harper and Brothers, 1844. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. Two volumes. 12mo. xii, (13)-405; xii, (11)-406pp. Black T-grain cloth, spine title and vignette in gilt; upper and lower boards blocked in blind. Illustrated with four full-page plates as well as a folding map showing the route of the first Sante Fe Expedition through Texas and parts of Mexico and the United States. Texblock and illustrations lightly foxed and paper toned from age. Volume I has a bookplate of a Vermont library (no other library markings) with a discard notice dated 1940. The map has a closed stress tear across one of the panels else is in very nice condition. Volume 1 is second state with '1845' at base of spine; Volune 2 is first state.
