Developed for use in France during America's brief 19-month involvement in World War I, 60 cm gauge trains continued to run on army bases in the USA until 1946. 60 cm gauge railroads were essential on both sides of the conflict. During an advance, lines were quickly built across the no man's land between the trenches and joined to the enemy's lines. 203 pages with photographs, diagrams, maps and rosters. Fine in a fine, bright dust jacket.
