Description:
New York: The Catholic Publication Society, 1868. Hardcover. Good. First American edition. Translated from the French by Emily Bowles. Rust colored cloth blind ruled with gilt-stamped spine. Spine darkened, extremities modestly worn, front hinge cracked with front fly loose and laid in, about very good. Margaret Neilson Armstrong's copy with her illustrated bookplate on the front pastedown and Signed in pencil by Armstrong on the front fly. The bookplate is of "Catherina, 1903" with a stained glass background. Presumably, designed by both Margaret and her sister Helen Armstrong as they both would work on art projects together as children whilst watching their father create stained glass artwork. A scarce copy particularly with Armstrong's signature and bookplate.
