About This Item

New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1970. Good reading copy (no dust jacket, extensive soiling of white covers with spine printing barely legible, interior crisp and clean with no markings) of this biography of the surrealist novelist and screen writer. Well-written, interesting book. 435 pages including extensive index and 20 pages of black and white photographs. West, in addition to being an important novelist--little appreciated during his short lifetime--worked on 1930s B-movies as a screenwriter and was a friend of F.Scott Fitzgerald (who died the day before West in 1940). The book explores these and other aspects of West's life.. 1st Edition. Hard Cover.
